How Can severe Throat Pain Be Treated?

Hi! I have a question concerning my throat. I am a singer and have had proper voice training for three years now. I have a feeling this is stress, but I have been experiencing muscle tension close to the very bottom of my throat, right above my collar bones. I do not push on my throat when I sing, and when I am singing it feels very good and connected with my diaphragm. But I have this very aching pain right at the very bottom of my throat and am a bit concerned. Sometimes I will also feel the pain on my shoulders or back since I carry a lot of tension there. My voice does not sound anything like someone with nodules, and my voice teacher thinks it is just stressed. But I would really like a doctors opinion!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it is due to spasm of vocal cords or small nodules like singer’s nodules.

Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

As of now you can take analgesics like acetaminophen for symptomatic relief. Do warm saline gargles also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
